Looking back on 2023... with some Hollywood glamour

If 2023 started relatively slowly for HR professionals, then it has certainly picked up pace in the latter months. The new legislation alone that we have had to process in the autumn is enough to keep us all busy. 2024 is going to be no quieter as the legislation is embedded in policies and procedures against the backdrop of a general election and manifesto promises.  

But for now, do take a look at our review of the year, with a little help from a classic Hollywood Christmas movie. The Holiday meets employment law;  a match made in heaven!

We have had a year bookended by holiday accrual and pay announcements and provisions. In January 2023 the Government announced a consultation on the accrual of holiday pay – its response to the Harpur Trust case the preceding summer and the ‘outlawing’ of the 12.07% calculation of holiday under the Working Time Regulations 1998.
