The risk review: Episode one

The risk review: Episode one

We are pleased to introduce The risk review, our new podcast series and a spin-off from the ACsess risk club.

Designed for busy professionals, the series offers short, focused episodes on the key risk issues that our clients are facing. Each episode brings together practical insight, clear analysis and useful takeaways to help organisations identify, manage and respond to risk with confidence.

What does this episode cover?
In the first episode, Rebecca Sembuuze and Joanne Wright explore building safety and, in particular, a key challenge facing social housing providers: securing access to residents’ homes to carry out essential safety works in higher-risk buildings.

The discussion compares traditional access injunctions with the newer provisions under the Building Safety Act 2022, highlighting key legal uncertainties, risks and cost considerations. It also touches on residents’ responsibilities and the practical importance of early engagement, clear communication and proportionate decision-making.

What’s coming next?
We will continue our focus on building safety over the next few episodes. In our upcoming episode, Lorna Kenyon-Pain and Catherine Simpson will discuss why building safety must remain a core Board responsibility duty to avoid governance failures – so watch this space!

We hope you enjoy the first episode of The Risk Review. Stay tuned for more short, practical conversations designed to help you stay ahead of risk.
