Each March is B Corp month, when thousands of B Corps across the world celebrate what it means to be a B Corporation.
B Corps are a network of businesses that meet stringent standards and subscribe, collectively, to the B Lab vision of “an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy”.
There are over 2700 B Corps in the UK, and the number is growing all the time as people recognise the power of showing that they are a distinctive business. As a social purpose law firm, becoming a B Corp was a natural next step back in 2022, and we were delighted that we achieved our reaccreditation in the autumn of 2025 (with an improved score).
Because B Corp status is not a “one-time” thing, a badge we achieve and then forget about for three years. Being a B Corp stretches us; it means we have to reflect not just on what clients we aim to work with, but on our supply chain, our impact on communities, how we influence policy, and how we drive down our impact on the environment. We have to report each year on our progress, and at our next reaccreditation, we will need to demonstrate how we have improved across the board.
I would hope, and believe, that we would be a good business anyway. But becoming - and remaining - a B Corp has undoubtedly helped increase and drive change in how we do our work, and I'm proud to work for a firm that has put this front and centre in our strategy and our planning.
And there are lots of B Corps out there - why not have a look this month at the range of businesses that have met the standards? Why not find a purpose-led business to buy chocolate from, or to go on holiday with, or get your coffee from? B Corps in all industries, all over the place, are demonstrating that it is possible to be a successful business and achieve positive social outcomes - indeed, the two can go hand in hand.
Happy B Corp month!
