Love and money: why breaking-up is so hard to do

The below BBC article highlights a wide variety of sources who say getting divorced without a lawyer is a bad idea. Being a lawyer, I would of course predictably agree. However, there are many ways to keep your costs to a manageable level. There are also now many sources of funding if you have assets. 

Choosing your battles is key. If you let some things go, you could save thousands. Decide what are your red lines. Prepare well - don't pay your lawyer to ask you questions you could have already answered with a good background note and a schedule of assets.
