Consultation on the consumer standards is out...

The much anticipated consultation on the new consumer standards is out now. The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) is seeking views on the four draft consumer standards and the consultation closes at 6pm on 17 October 2023.

The draft consumer standards set out the specific expectations and outcomes that all registered providers will be expected to achieve. It is anticipated that the final set of standards will apply from April 2024. They are:

  • The Safety and Quality Standard
  • The Transparency, Influence and Accountability Standard
  • The Neighbourhood and Community Standard
  • The Tenancy Standard.

As part of this consultation, they are seeking views on a draft Code of Practice intended to amplify the standards and assist RPs to understand how they might achieve compliance. The RSH will then consider the responses received, finalise the consumer standards and Code of Practice and expect to replace the existing consumer standards with the final revised standards from April 2024.

They want to hear from landlords, tenants and anyone with an interest in social housing. Speak now...

The publication of the draft consumer standards for consultation marks an important step in the future of consumer regulation
