A partnership with a shared purpose

Today I've been recording a video interview with The UK Sepsis Trust, talking about our partnership with the charity. This is going to be part of our 2023 Social Impact Report but this article isn't a plug (I don't fancy watching myself, never mind encouraging all of you to watch me!) - here's a snippet of what it's all about.

As part of preparing for the interview, I thought about why exactly we have this partnership and what it achieves. It made me reflect on the synergetic relationship we've built over the years. It's been an evolution as we've got to understand each other and explore all the different ways we can work together to achieve a shared purpose of improving lives, communities and society. For example, becoming a #SepsisSavvy organisation has enhanced awareness of sepsis in our work community; equipping people with the knowledge to be able to spot the signs and seek medical help quickly. Another example is actively promoting The UK Sepsis Trust's campaigns and raising awareness, which is fundamental to improving outcomes. We also fundraise for them, which is essential for a national charity such as The UK Sepsis Trust to further their aims now and into the future. We also feed into their work with the NHS and doctors on the ground to improve systems and delivery, in turn improving patient outcomes across the country.

On top of all this, we have helped secure the future for people who have been in touch with The UK Sepsis Trust whose lives have been turned upside down by sepsis that could have been avoided if they'd received the treatment they could and should have done. The intrinsic relationship we have with The UK Sepsis Trust means our team have a deep understanding of sepsis and considerable experience in this area of law, to deliver the best possible outcomes for our clients.

I'm proud my team and I have worked with these clients to help them through a process which has ultimately given them financial security and some degree of justice. I spoke to Sarah from the charity and as she said today, sepsis is eminently treatable with simple steps if only it's done in time. When that doesn't happen, the consequences can be catastrophic.

It's a privilege to have such a close relationship with this charity with whom we collectively improve lives day in and day out. Of course, Sarah from The UK Sepsis Trust said this far more eloquently, so you may want to look at the Social Impact Report when it's out next month!
Globally, sepsis claims 11 million lives a year. Yet, for many patients, with early diagnosis it is easily treatable. The UK Sepsis Trust (UKST) exists to fight this life-threatening condition, stop preventable deaths and support those affected by sepsis
