Holiday warnings for Blue Badge holders

As the 'great getaway' starts and the main summer holidays begin, Blue Badge holders heading to the continent need to pay particular attention to the fact that their Blue Badge may not be effective in Europe as a consequence of Brexit.

Some countries are still to decide on whether Blue Badges and the support provided through their appropriate display, should continue to be provided or not.

So if you or your clients, friends or family are heading abroad and would normally make use of their Blue Badge, please ensure they are aware of the current uncertainty and check out the latest rules applicable to their country of destination.

Holidays are for relaxing, hopefully, not for receiving fines!

Disabled drivers are being warned that their blue badges may not be accepted in popular European holiday destinations this summer due to Brexit. Ministers are negotiating the status of the badges - which were recognised when the UK was in the EU - with 11 nations. France, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Italy are among those "undecided" on recognising the discs, which help people park closer to a destination.
