Government announces further mediation funding for separating couples with children

The Government has today announced a further £5.4 million of funding to help separating parents to resolve arrangements for children away from the court. The funding will provide £500 to couples who wish to discuss child arrangements within a mediation setting.

For parents who are keen to avoid the acrimonious courtroom and the long delays that come with court proceedings this is a welcome announcement.

Under the scheme, £500 mediation vouchers are provided to divorcing couples with the aim of helping them find mutually agreeable solutions and freeing up space in the family courts.
