Chairs for the inquiries

Today we have seen the appointment of the Chairs for the Scottish and UK Covid-19 public inquiries - Lady Poole QC and Baroness Hallett respectively.

We are yet to see the Terms of Reference for the UK Covid-19 inquiry - we expect this will be the next step in the journey to the inquiry commencing. As you will recall, the Government promised that the inquiry would commence in spring 2022.

The Terms of Reference for the Scottish inquiry have however been released - see here. Ranging from pandemic planning to PPE, from health and social care to education, these terms provide a useful insight into the breadth and depth of what we can expect the UK inquiry to cover.

The UK government is working with the devolved administrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland on the scope of the inquiry.
