Visiting care homes during lockdown

With the new 'national lockdown' now announced, if the country is to avoid the previous mistakes that led to many thousands of deaths, the Government needs to urgently update its guidance on visiting care homes. If they fail to do so they will leave the social care sector in disarray. 

For the current position, the National Care Forum has provided a useful link to the current Government guidance along with links to their guidance on infection control and the Care Provider's Alliance's very useful visitor's protocol.

We need to balance the risk of harm from COVID-19 with the risk of harm from isolation through a number of different measures.  A coalition, led by the National Care Forum, are calling on the Government and policy makers to ensure visiting in care homes is safely enabled for everyone .
