Saturday 13 September is World Sepsis Day. Sepsis awareness has improved greatly over the last few years, for a variety of reasons, ranging from plotlines on Coronation Street, MP Craig Mackinlay sharing his personal story of sepsis in Parliament, to news coverage of the tragic death of Martha Mills (which led to Martha's Rule). Whilst many more of you will have heard of sepsis now than ever before, there is still more to be done. Awareness is a major factor in improving outcomes and saving lives: five people die from sepsis every hour across the UK but with early recognition and treatment, thousands of lives a year could be saved.
The UK Sepsis Trust campaign this year is all about awareness, but with a football theme, which seems apt giving the Lionesses’ win this summer! They’ve created a quick and easy game, Sepsis Savvy Shootout, which aims to arm people with lifesaving sepsis awareness knowledge in a fun and easy way. All players will be given a chance to enter a prize draw – the lucky winners get to meet Harry Redknapp!
When you have a moment, please do have a look at their campaign and game here and be #SepsisSavvy
