In January 2024 the Department for Levelling up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) released its consultation for Awaab’s Law which will be introduced by the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023. The consultation closed on 5 March 2024. 

Anthony Collins welcomes the proposed Awaab’s Law in relation to damp, mould and condensation but we share the wider sector's concerns concerning the proposal to extend Awaab’s Law to include the additional 28 Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) hazards at this time.  

We have sought the views of our internal housing specialist lawyers, and also the views of a significant number of CEOs and leadership teams at registered provider organisations across the country, to enable us to be in a position to submit our consultation response to DLUHC.
