£150 million alone is not enough

As this gorgeous frosty morning signals the start of the colder months, MHCLG’s announcement last week for additional funding to provide accommodation for rough sleepers is undoubtedly welcome.

Great strides were made in getting 'everyone in' at the start of lockdown 1 and Government funding assisted with this. However, in my view, there needs to be a clear strategy for long-term solutions to rough sleeping and providing permanent housing options for those homeless individuals. Funding is definitely part of that solution: all research shows intensive support (which of course comes at a cost) is needed to provide the best opportunity for success. But money alone is not enough.

I have seen some great examples of this working at a local level, with various organisations working together to find solutions. Let's share those examples so we can see a national success story.
