Nicola Woods

Senior associate

Senior associate in the clinical negligence and personal injury team

My role

I specialise in personal injury and clinical negligence work, with over 17 years of experience dealing with catastrophic injury and fatality claims and a wide range of clinical negligence cases. I am a successful litigator, with a good track record of securing many high-value settlements for my clients and also deal with historic abuse cases against the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority. I am a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and the Society of Clinical Injury Lawyers (SCIL) and enjoy working as part of a team who shares the same values as I do.

My experience

I am a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives starting my legal career in 1998 and qualifying in 2004. I represent clients in a broad range of clinical negligence and personal injury cases.

I pride myself on my ability to build strong relationships with my clients and to ensure that I am approachable and supportive. This is extremely important to me, as I like to help my clients through what can be a very difficult time for them.

My experience includes catastrophic personal injury cases, psychological injury cases, fatalities in both personal injury and clinical negligence, cauda equina, missed cancer diagnosis, ophthalmic injury, dental injury, urological injury – including vaginal mesh cases, injury during childbirth and dental injury. I also deal with professional negligence cases.

I hold a supervisory management qualification and have held roles both supervising a team of personal injury lawyers and as a head of department. Away from work, I am lucky enough to live on the edge of Macclesfield Forest and enjoy walking there and in the Lake District with my family. I also enjoy travelling, both in the UK and abroad.
