Celebrating ASB Awareness Week!

ASB Awareness Week this week is all about Making Communities Safer.

I remain in awe at the breadth of skills required and the number of hats worn by ASB officers (drafting, investigation, social work, compassion, resilience, confidence, to name but a few) as they investigate, action plan, prepare statements, face cross-examination in court and attend challenging evictions to make their communities safer.

I was reminded of that when attending the retirement lunch for the legend that is Pauline McKenzie-Brown at Citizen Housing Group on Friday. An amazing role model who has, with great patience and good humour, reviewed many ASB policies, action plans and proportionality assessments over her 39 years in housing management!. The picture below is of Pauline with the outstanding Safer Neighbourhood team at Citizen.

We are really proud of the anti-social behaviour work we do as a team at Anthony Collins and the difference we, working in partnership with our social landlord clients, can and do make to lives, communities and society. From delivering desperately needed respite from drug dealing, noise or harassment,  emergency exclusions to protect from violence, to safeguarding children at risk, high-risk hoarding being resolved, vulnerable adults being cuckooed, or animals being neglected.

So, during ASB Awareness week, our team will be publishing a post each day on a different aspect of our work and experiences from choosing whether to pursue an injunction or possession claim, to recent learning from closure orders before they are expanded out to housing associations to use directly in the Autumn, too. We will also be covering the challenges of mental capacity and ASB injunctions and sharing a solicitor's reflections on the move from working for tenants to landlords.
