A sobering read: the RSH's analysis of the risks facing the housing sector

Hot off the press, the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) has published its Sector Risks Profile 2020. More detailed analysis will follow, but the introduction to the paper alone lays bare the huge challenges that registered providers face over the coming months and years.

There are no surprises: heightened risks around health and safety and building safety compliance, the impact of Covid-19 on organisations and more especially on tenants and service users and, looming in the very near distance, Brexit and the seismic shocks this will place on our already stressed economy.

From organisations working and re-working their business and strategic plans to Board members striving to keep pace with the speed of change and emerging issues, we all should keep a copy of the Sector Risks Profile handy - just don't read it before you go to sleep!

[The Sector Risks Profile 2020] highlights the most significant sources of risk to which providers are exposed. The breadth of risks set out in this report demonstrates the challenges and complexities that Boards must manage and mitigate.
