Fresh inquest ordered

This is a really interesting case our team have been involved in over recent months. Sarah and Sacha successfully assisted a family in their application to the High Court to quash an original inquest and order a fresh one.

As you will see there were a great deal of concerns about the way the original inquest was conducted. There were concerns about procedural irregularities and failures by the coroner to consider, what the family thought was relevant evidence.

Hopefully, this case will further highlight the importance of full and fearless inquests taking place when necessary and of the need to take heed of families when they are raising concerns about the circumstances of a death.

The application requested that the original inquest decision be quashed, and a new inquest be ordered into the death of Renee Rushbrooke. The Respondent agreed that there was a real possibility that a fresh investigation and inquest may give rise to an alternative outcome to proceedings and consented to the application.
