Long awaited Government response to the social housing crisis published

Delayed since Spring 2020 as the Government tackled the Covid-19 crisis, today saw the publication of the Social Housing White Paper, setting out the future regulation of the social housing sector.

As trailed by the Housing Secretary in September, it formalises the Government's response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy including, we were told, “measures to further empower tenants and boost the supply and quality of social housing with greater redress and better more meaningful regulation of the sector".

There are huge expectations around the paper and the big question is whether it can meet these and whether it will be seen as an adequate response.

We'll be setting out our own analysis of the contents of the White Paper and the implications to housing providers and their customers on our website www.anthonycollins.com and via Twitter and LinkedIn. To receive our briefings directly into your inbox please subscribe to our newsroom here.

Sets out the actions the government will take to ensure that residents in social housing are safe, are listened to, live in good quality homes, and have access to redress when things go wrong.
